About Us

All three of our physicians are board certified in Rheumatology and are members of the American College of Rheumatology. They are also involved in ongoing clinical research. Our doctor's contribute to the community by teaching medical students, interns and residents.

Stephen Ross, M.D., FACR

Dr. Stephen Ross was born and raised in St. Louis. After graduating from the University of Vermont in 1972, he attended medical school at Saint Louis University. He completed his internship and residency at the University of Louisville and was chief medical resident from 1979-1980.

He returned to Saint Louis University for his fellowship in Rheumatology from 1980-1982. In 1982, he joined his current practice at Arthritis Consultants. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology. He has served as principal or sub-investigator on numerous clinical research trials since 1980. These have included studies on Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriatic Arthritis, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Systemic lupus, and Osteoarthritis.

He has served as chairman of the medical scientific committee of the Arthritis Foundation and president of Saint Louis Rheumatism in the past. He is currently Chief of Rheumatology at Mercy Medical Center.

Akgun Ince, M.D., FACR

Dr. Akgun Ince is a Clinical Professor at St. Louis University and has been in private practice at Arthritis Consultants, Inc. since 2001. Dr. Ince serves as the Director of Clinical Research at Arthritis Consultants, Inc.

He received his Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) in 1989 and completed his residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Rheumatology at St. Louis University. He worked as a full time faculty at St. Louis University and was awarded “The Young Faculty Award” before joining Arthritis Consultants, Inc.

He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology. He has been President of St. Louis Rheumatisim Society. Dr. Ince has been the primary investigator in many clinical trials on the treatments of Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriatic Arthritis, Osteoarthritis and Ankylosing Spondylitis. He has published numerous articles in peer-review journals and contributed in book chapters. He also presented many abstracts in National and International Scientific Meetings. He served as a reviewer for many rheumatology journals and currently is the Co-Editor for BMC Musculoskeletal Disorder.

Amanda Dehlendorf, M.D., FACR

Dr. Amanda Dehlendorf joined our practice in 2010. A St. Louis native, she graduated from St. Louis University School of Medicine in 2005 and completed her Internal Medicine Residency at St. John's Mercy Medical Center. She completed a two year fellowship in Rheumatology at St. Louis University in 2010. She was involved in clinical and basic science research and has published articles in peer-reviewed journals.

She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology. She is serving as a sub-investigator on several ongoing clinical trials.



Maryam Pourpaki, M.D.

Dr. Maryam Pourpaki joined our practice in July, 2016. She received her Doctorate of Medicine (M.D.) in 2002 and completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio in 2014. She then completed a two year fellowship in Rheumatology at Washington University School of Medicine/Barnes Jewish Hospital in 2016. Dr. Pourpaki has been a member of the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) since 2013. She has experience in clinical and basic science research and has published articles in peer reviewed journals.

Dr. Pourpaki is a highly sought after physician, who brings a wealth of knowledge and compassion to our practice as well as a determination to find the best treatments and medical care for her patients.

Isabel Hartig, NP-C

Isabel joined our practice in 2015. She was raised in St. Louis were she graduated from Kirkwood High School. She went on to receive her Nursing degree from Southeast Missouri State University. Isabel has been a Registered Nurse for over 18 years and recently obtained her Masters in Nursing as an Adult Nurse Practitioner through Goldfarb School of Nursing at Washington University St. Louis.

Her career has covered many aspects in the nursing field from cardiothoracic ICU care, emergency medicine and Rheumatology. Isabel was involved in clinical research as lead investigator and has been published. We are delighted to welcome Isabel to our practice and she has brought an incredible amount of care, understanding and knowledge with her.
